Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands, who started working together as an influential production/DJ team under the name The Dust Brothers (not to be confused with the American producers of the same name), became the superstars at the centre of the techno/electronica revolution as The Chemical Brothers. With a crowd-pleasing style that came to be known as 'big beat' that made as much of an impact in concert as it did on record, they combined dance music with rock and pop. Their first couple of albums, which featured guest vocalists like Beth Orton and Oasis's Noel Gallagher made both the duo and the style they championed into worldwide phenomenons. Their influence on electronica is inestimable, but they've also remained active and vital on both the performing and recording fronts.
