Best King Crimson Song On Earth

Under the guidance of guitarist Robert Fripp, revered English progressive rock band King Crimson came together in 1969. The band’s debut full-length In The Court Of The Crimson King was met with a rapturous response from fans of the genre, but despite the praise, personal disputes meant that by the time In The Wake Of Poseidon hit the shelves the following year, King Crimson was in something of a limbo. Frontman Greg Lake left to form Emerson, Lake And Palmer, while Fripp recruited the first of many new line-ups for third album, the jazz-influenced Lizard. A third line-up, which included ex-Yes drummer Bill Bruford and ex-Family vocalist / bassist John Wetton, recorded the angular, percussive Larks’ Tongue In Aspic, and remained in place for Starless & Black Bible and Red. Fripp put Crimson on hold whilst he pursued a solo career, before resurrecting the band in 1981, albeit with yet another line-up based around himself, Bruford, Adrian Belew and Tony Levin. This quartet remained in placed over four adventurous, groundbreaking albums. Bruford then quit to focus on his Earthworks project and in 2000, Fripp gathered yet another King Crimson for the hard rocking full-length The ConstruKtion Of Light.
