Best Oasis Song On Earth

Formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis emerged in the mid-90s to become the most successful and important British rock band since The Beatles, and played a pivotal role in launching the Britpop era. Definitely Maybe is widely regarded as one of the finest debut albums ever released, and the follow-up (What's The Story) Morning Glory? conquered the American market and became the best-selling British rock album of the 90s. Unashamedly drawing from the classic acts of the 60s and 70s that inspired them, Oasis performed with a northern swagger that, although part of the band's appeal, often spilled over into arrogance, and saw them run into problems with the press on both sides of the Atlantic. The two central members, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, were also renowned for their serious and regular feuds. This led to several claims that the band had split, and numerous tour cancellations throughout its lifespan. However, Oasis continued into the new millennium with both brothers on board, and for the band's later albums the line-up resembled something of a British indie supergroup. They continued to sell well and earned decent reviews, and they never lost their ability to sell-out the biggest venues with ease, although it became clear that another classic LP was beyond them. After seven studio albums, ongoing tension between the Gallaghers proved too much, and in 2010 they announced the end of Oasis. Both brothers destined for further success in music, whilst Liam has also launched his own Pretty Green clothes brand.
