Best War Song On Earth

Pioneering funk rock outfit, War, was formed when Eric Burdon (formerly of British Invasion rockers The Animals) briefly teamed up with the California-based instrumental outfit, Nightshift, in 1969. Their debut, Eric Burdon Declares War, emerged the following year and set the template for subsequent releases with its low-end heavy hybrid of rhythmic funk, chanted vocals and occasional squalling guitars. Despite Burdon's departure after the follow-up, the band's potent fusion reached its apogee with the magnificent albums, All Day Music and 1972's Billboard chart-topping The World Is A Ghetto.
