Although most artists who make it big in their native Canada don't tend to break through to the rest of the world, Canuck pop rocker Bryan Adams emerged in the 80s as one of the most beloved artists on the planet. He started out with a driving sound somewhat akin to American 'heartland rockers' such as John Cougar Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen, scoring hits with tunes like Cuts Like A Knife and the classic Run To You. But by the 90s, power ballads had become a big part of Adams' appeal, and the likes of (Everything I Do) I Do It For You and Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman made him commercially bigger than ever. Over the years, Adams and his longtime writing partner Jim Vallance have also penned songs for a wide variety of other artists, from Rod Stewart to Neil Diamond.
