After the break-up of their former band Split Enz in 1984, Neil Finn and Paul Hester recruited Nick Seymour, and Crowded House was born. Despite a sleeper album in their debut, it scored two Top 10s in America. After a subdued critical and commercial reaction to their second album, Neil recruited his brother Tim Finn for what would be their mainstream breakthrough, Woodface. The album spawned several hits, including Fall At Your Feet, Four Seasons In One Day and Weather With You, and broke into the USA and UK Top 10. In 1991, Finn the Elder left the group to start a solo career. It didn't stop Crowded House, however: the acclaimed follow-up, Together Alone, was a more sonically adventurous set. In 1996, they announced their farewell, bowing out with Recurring Dream a greatest hits-type record which included some additional new material. Neil Finn followed his brother into the solo arena, but after the tragic suicide of Paul Hester in 2005, resurrected the band for 2007's Time On Earth.
