The interpretation of the Great American Songbook has been recorded by many credible artists over 60 years, and will continue to be mined by future singers who 'know a good song when they hear it'. In the history of popular music only Ella Fitzgerald and this man, have succeeded in earning the Crown and will retain it unchallenged. Sinatra's cool vocal arrangements combined with the likes of Nelson Riddle and Gordon Jenkins' brilliant orchestrations to make the greatest of the great. Between 1954 and 1962 the quality of his work was astonishing, and it represented over 25 LP's, many of them absolute 5-star albums. Bear in mind he had already been a teen idol in the 40s, and he continued, albeit at a slower pace throughout the 60s and 70s. He was a phenomenon, and although his private life was clouded with allegations, his voice and his musical output remain an astonishing legacy.
