Although many have tried, and there have been countless attempts, nobody has ever played guitar quite like Hendrix. He was a true original and had total effortless mastery over his instrument, so much so that to this day his technique remains 'jaw-dropping'. After spending years as a backing musician in his homeland he was bought to Britain by ex-Animals bassist Chas Chandler. Over the next four years he lived fast, made some phenominal music and died tragically young. The extraordinary album Electric Ladyland featured stunning musicianship from Hendrix and the likes of Jack Casady, Steve Winwood, Al Kooper, Chris Wood and Mike Finnigan. No one has done more for the popularity of the Fender Stratocaster than Hendrix (even though he played it upside down!). Quite possible the best guitarist of all time.
