One of the most exciting and distinctive British bands to emerge from the 90s Britpop era, Kula Shaker burst onto the scene in 1996 with an Eastern-influenced brand of 60s-inspired, psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll, complete with Indian mantras, sitars, and a Hammond organ. After two highly successful albums, the band split, with lead singer Crispian Mills going on to form The Jeevas. The band unexpectedly announced that it was going to re-form in 2004 and released albums Strangefolk (2007) and Pilgrims Progress (2010).
