Ravi Shankar's daughter certainly knew what she was doing. Singer-songwriter Norah Jones, shot to international stardom in the early 00s to show the world she had just as much instrumental talent as her peers and her father. Jones initially made an impression on the local jazz and folk circuit in New York City, and her excellent debut Come Away With Me, emerged on Jones' own label before being quickly reissued on the legendary jazz label, Blue Note Records. The critical response was overwhelmingly positive but the album's subsequent worldwide success would have stunned even her most ardent early fans, with the record eventually shifting over 11 million copies. Jones subsequently pocketed five Grammies before repeating her eclectic fusion of country and jazz pop on subsequent releases. Jones has also collaborated with a disparate collection of musicians ranging from alt-country star Ryan Adams to southern rap superstars Outkast.
