Ocean Colour Scene formed in Birmingham, England, in 1990, but had to wait for the Britpop era of the mid-90s to make its mark. The band’s intentionally retro sound is primarily modelled on British bands of the 60s. A series of anthemic singles, which are now considered indie rock classics, brought strong UK chart success. Although Ocean Colour Scene has failed to replicate its mid-90s' success in the new millennium, it has continued to steadily release new material, and retains a loyal core fanbase.
