Keith was one of a number of New Traditionalist country singers to emerge in the wake of Garth Brooks during the 90s. The former oil-field worker and semi-pro football player turned to music in his late 20’s as the work dried up, and he quickly found a lucrative niche for his rollicking updates of the honky tonk music he listened to as he grew up. Keith placed several hits at the top of the country charts during the rest of the decade, but it was not until he released his angry response to the terrorist attacks of 9/11 that he became widely known outside the country field. Courtesy Of The Red, White Blue (The Angry American) made Keith a superstar to rank up there with Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks. He shows no signs of letting this elevated position slip.
